Thoughts on new Skylake build

New build after a stint away from PC gaming.

I already have in hand 2 780ti GPUs. Cannot run in SLI as they came without coolers, but intend to get there eventually. For the moment an aftermarket ARCTIC cooler is on one, taking the board to 305mm long so a new case and the rest of my kit is v creaky now so a new build looks to be in order.

Currently the shopping list is:

MSI Z170A Krait Gaming Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Noctua NH-U12s CPU cooler
Fractal Design R5 case
Corsair R1000 PSU (could drop this as I have a corsair 750w but dont think I can run SLI against that).
16Gb (2x8) Corsair DDR4 vengence
Intel I7 6700K

GPU and storage are in hand already.
Bill for that lot is coming in around £750 - a little higher than budgeted
Is the I7 worth the extra 100 over the top end I5
Interested in feedback suggestions etc.

Thanks

Trev

The corsair 750w might be enough for sli, you will need a power meter to see how much your PC pulls from the wall.

The I5 should be good enough for gaming, money saved could be put towards a graphics upgrade later.

Thanks, I looked at I7 as I'm thinking Rift or Vive not too far down the line, but I dont know if multi threading is critical for those applications.

If you decide to go for a i7 then the 8pack bundle just got very interesting. You need to be quick though as it's limited to the first 100 orders.

You now also get:-

1) 1x 500gb Samsung Evo 850 SSD
2) 1x Tom Clancy's The Division PC Game
3) Free shipping on your entire basket!

See here for full details. I would be very tempted myself if I was on a older system than I am now.
