Honestly shocked at all the pink floyd hate in here. I can understand they are not everyones cup of tea, but their songwriting and musicianship is among the best rock has ever seen

I'm not so surprised, there are a lot of very uptight and angry people on OCUK.
Not really the sort to kick back and experience something like PF. Let alone take the substances that take them from amazing to truly divine. :)

What a childish thing to say.
Just because you wouldn't listen to some of the stuff I listen to I wouldn't could you uptight & angry.
Some people just don't like certain kinds of music so live with it.

You referred to OCUK members being uptight & angry just because they don't like the same music as you.
I 100% accept that the majority of posters will not have my musical taste and I don't need to put people down because they don't.

Pretty sure that's not how I wrote it.

Your response is amusing in light of it though.

Those are your exact words so there's no need to call people uptight and angry because they won't kick back and experience something like PF.
You also make an assumption that people haven't tried to kick back and experience something like PF.

Love the wall but then i am a massive fan of all pink floyd stuff.

Have the box set of all studio albums and also all the immersion box sets released.

Went and saw roger waters perform the wall in manchester and will never forget what a great night it was.

Have the film adaptation of the wall and have watched it a few times but prefer to listen to the live recording of the wall.

What does everyone think of the meaning of the album/lyrics?

I think that the downbeat and self-absorbed nature of the album is completely flipped around by the finale of 'the trial'. Here, despite Pink (Roger) blaming his dad, his mum, his cruel school and his wife for his woes, he ultimately confesses that his downward spiral is all entirely his own fault and that he feels obliged to expose that side of himself to his peers (the audience, me and you) to reveal what a self-absorbed man he has been. The judge (in his head) orders him to do so and that is exactly what he does, by releasing the album.

I think it's absolutely genius.

It's not my favourite release from Pink Floyd but it is very good. I can understand some people not liking it though - if you're not used to 'proggy' music then it can take a bit of getting used to.

Any Tull fans?
