Thoughts on pre-orders

What are everyones thoughts on pre-ordering games?

At the moment I have Shadow of Mordor and Farcry4 on pre-order and these represent my two sides of thought.


With Shadow of Mordor I paid £25 but the game may be terrible and I have no basis to say otherwise

With Farcry4 I paid £50 for a special edition and from the first 3 Farcry's I think this game will be excellent and have prior knowledge on the engine used etc



So what do we think on pre-orders?

Do you pre-order games or wait for them to come out fully? Do you think it's worth paying more for 'special editions'?

To be fair the only reason I pre-ordered SoM is because of the low price

My patience is fairly low...

And I never seem to have the time to go out on the day to purchase a game.

I'd much rather have it delivered on the day

Maybe it's just in my nature.

I don't really mind risking a small fee of £25

I've 'invested' a lot more into kickstarters that have much less chance of coming to fruition

The replies have deterred me from pre-ordering AC: Unity which I know will floop anyway

To be honest I really dislike 'exclusive' pre-order content.

The main reason I preorder is laziness, I like to forget that I've even ordered the game and then have it turn up on my doorstep after I come home from work on the day of release
