Anyone have any thoughts on what Rochester is like to live in? Can see on the map that it's very close to Gillingham and Chatham, which I know have a reputation as ***** infested hell holes (no offence to anyone who lives there :p ), but my sis reckons it's nice, and cheap - I point out that it may be cheap for a reason and get bawled at :p So what's the real story?

I recomend not living there.....

No real reason just living anywhere that far south gives me the creeps... (harpenden is freaking me out at the mo, roll on belfast)

Meh, Rochester is alright. It has nice areas, and bad areas, much like any town. Gillingham, Chatham, Dartford, Gravesend, heck, all those places are full of chavs.

One of my friends had a flat in a nice area in Rochester

The place itself is rather nice and the town centre is attractive and seemed to be problem free

It's big problem is being next to Strood, Chatham and Gillingham, all of which are really awful and dodgy areas

You do get chavs coming in from Chatham unfortunately but it wasn't a bad place

I prefer Canterbury personally but Rochester is cheaper!

I used to live in Rainham (1 stop away from Gillingham). Quite quiet, not my liking, but no ******. no chavs (Unless near the station). Good pub called the Cricketers. So... look there :)
