Hi guys,

After some upgrade advice. My spec is below and I ahve the itch to upgrade. Was going to go sandybridge but as my trusty system is still pootling along I think I'll wait and see what bull dozer brings.

In the meantime however I want an upgrade and thinking of an ssd and or a 6950. What do people think?

My system is :

AMD 965
Asrock Extreme3 770 mobo
8gig ddr3 ram
WD Black drive
Asus 6850 GPU

Is the 6950 a significant jump or just clock the 6850.

With regards SSD is it worth it at the moment?

Budget not an issue and was looking at the 120gig drives. Eyed up the Intel 510 elmcrest and also the crucial m4 any thoughts?

Also, anyone know where I could get either of those drives with a freebie. They were doing shogun 2 with the elmcrest but I think thats stopped now?

Anyway, any help and thoughts very much appreciated1

The 6950 is on par with a 5870, but jumps ahead a little bit in DX11 games. The extra £20 - £40 for a 6950 though doesn't really pay for the little performance increase you get.

I would upgrade to a 5870. I recently had to pick between them two and chose the 5870.
Maybe whack one of these SSD's in there?

Cheers guys. I've got the 6850 so may stick it out with that.

For the ssd I want 120gig one. Torn between the crucial M4 and the Intel Elmcrest one.

I really fancy a new case. Got an Antec 300 at the moment, but fancy a Lan Li one. This one. But it only takes the smaller mobo's so would ahve to change mobo too which I'm not fussed on right now. Will prob do the case with cpu/mobo together.
