Just looking at heatsinks and spotted the SI-120. Has anyone used one of these and would it cool better than a XP90C? Im looking at it because it means I can use a 120mm fan which will mean my PC is quieter and also, currently my 90C is a very tight fit with my RAM, meaning I have to take the heatsink off to mess with the RAM. Have read a few reviews but cant find any comparing it to the 90C...

Or alternatively are there any other heatsinks that cool well and use a larger fan?

Here you go, just what you have been looking for. A couple of other heatsinks compared as well as the XP 90C. See here . I have the SI-120 and have found it to be excellent. It cools my A64 3700+ to 30 idle/42 100% load with a thermaltake thunderblade 120mm blue led fan. It will even keep the cpu cool with the fan off. I do have very good airflow in the case though and the heatsink is right next to the 120mm exhaust fan.

The Thermaltake Big Typhoon is another excellent cooler.

Ahha cheers, looks like it might be worth swapping to as it cools better and will be quieter. The Big Typhoon looks similar and good as well, but as I'm a thermalright fanboy I'll have to stick with that.

The air flow in my case is pretty poor but the SI-120 keeps my opty at 33 idle 44 load. Much better than the XP-90 i had that struggled to keep load temps under 50. It's certainly not a tight fit either, great cooler imo.

I have my 3000 overclocked with an SI-120 40C on full load :D i love it it. Its all the better because it uber quiete with and akasa amber:D

I have just replaced my Zalman 9500 with an Si120 and Vantech Stealth fan.
My Opti 170 ran @ 41 idle and 55 load with the Z. Temps are now 34 idle and 44 load with the Si 120. Need I say more?

Matt

Just ordered mine now with an Akasa Amber fan, hopefully should quieten things up a bit and improve my cooling:) Ill post the results back on Thursday when I should have it hopefully!

Anyone try it with the Delta crossflow fan?

- Speed - 4000RPM
- Output - 190 CFM
- Decibels - 59dBA
- Dimensions - 120x120x38

Any problems with A8N Premium? Also is the clip to hold the fan included? Is the Akasa Ultra silent sufficient or higher CFM fan needed?

Oh dear god no - are you contemplating the delta; are you aware that that fan can be heard from over 2 miles away :p

Well not quite, but I'd suggest 5v'ing it straight away, or going for an alternative such as an akasa amber if you like your ears.

Just got it and stuck it in and been running some testing on it. It seems a fair bit quieter than my old cooler... idle temps have dropped to around 35C from 38C but load temps are going up over 50C!
