So im a network drive newbie but I really want to get going on it.

My aim is to watch my videos from anywhere in the house and not have pc on all the time to download torrents

I plan to get a ASUS RT-N66U router and a WESTERN DIGITAL My Book Live Network Hard Drive 1TB

Now im pretty sure the WD doesnt have torrent client but you can hack it so it can have a torrent client but am I better off getting a network drive that does torrent client?

I have DSL 3mb broadband so ill be bridging to the ASUS and then connecting to the network drive and I have ethernet cables to my computer and tv already so I can just put them in the network drive and I can use wifi from the network drive for my tablet etc

So anything that stands out that I should look at? Basically any advice would be greatly appreciated

If your after a server, I'd recommend the HP micro server, install Ubuntu or Windows Server on it a 32GB internal USB stick.

Buy a 2TB drive to stick in one of the slots.

And off you go.

If your router is not gigabit then buy a tp-link 4 port switch.

What sort of torrent client are you after? Managed or unmanaged (such as couchpotato). If you're happy to queue up downloads as and when you need them then the N66Us download master does an ok job or you could install Transmission and a GUI for it.
