Seen a few on ebay in the black finish i like. I intend to add this to my set up in the near future as my cresta 10's dont produce much in the way of bass, and it sounds a bit tinny. I dont know a lot about them unfortunatley!

Ive got the Denon AVR-1907, and its an active subwoofer, so is it compatible? or should i be looking at passive sub's or are they outdated?

thanks

Benny

Yes, you should be looking at active subs (like the KEF one). A passive sub requires a monoblock or bridged stereo amp to work with that reciever. It shouldn't be too difficult to add, though I can't see a specialised sub out on the amp (looking at small images on google of its connections).

You could use this one:

I'm using a similar with my Denon AVR-3801 to my Paradigm PS1000 sub.

Thats the one, couldn't read the writing properly on the image I found. Is the sub going to be located upstairs? Just wondering if downfiring models cause more noise for people underneath?

ahh rite, thats very much lads, so is it that red phono and the white one above it, or just the red?

It a good sub? Im not looking for something amazing, just want it to be clean, and tight n to be able to handle low frequency's, my dad has a Kef sub, its fairley similar although ported underneath, ill have to have a look and see what one he has

yeh it'l be upstairs in my bedroom, thats a good point, they'l have to buy earplugs then :P i only listen to music loudley when people are out, or not doing thinsg when they need peice and quiet. so i dont think it'd be too much of an issue.

Just the red phono. :)

The white one above is the center channel

Looks to be the same sub as supplied with the Kef Eggs 1005 model range, but that ones just comes in silver. If so it's not really up to much, Ok for AV but I'd buy better if going for seperates. Have also heard comments that the kef subs have bad active amps in them that blow easily.

Ah right, ill have a read up about the amps in them, its going to have to handle some abuse so i dont want it to die on me!

I was in richer sounds buying 2 optical cables and a great big silve Mordaunt Short sub caught my eye, think they had it for around £230. If theres one thing ive learnt with audio and video, its to do it properly :)

both the WHARFEDALE DIAMOND SW150 SUBWOOFER and the Mordaunt Short 907 are both fantastic little subs, both around the £200-£230 mark, defo worth a listen.

Ive also been recommended the BK Gemini which is in my price range and comes with all the cabling and accesories i need for £199.99 shall have a nosey about, Thanks lads.
