Hey guys

Not built a system in ages and just put together some bits and pieces. It's going to be used for main office pc doing tasks and advanced photoshop tasks using a dual monitor set up.
Looking to built a top spec machine to last beyond 5 plus years.
I have a 2nd 2TB HDD here already so only needing a SSD for the system drive.
Any advice on the system along with anything you think i may have missed. thanks

Hi.

The CPU+board are incompatible.

The 4820K uses the older 2011 socket and the X79 chipset with DDR3.

You want a 5829K or better which is using the 2011-3 socket (that X99 board and DDR4).

You need a heatsink for all theses CPUs they do not come with one, not even the retail ones do.

The case is totally unsuited as its mATX support only (unless you want the gigbayte mATX X99 bundle).


Instead here are some alternatives,

Both have more fans than the Zalman and are noise dampened.

Your choice of PSU is strange unless you plan on going SLI, but even then I would look at a higher rated unit as X99 uses more power than average or you can get away with a slightly lower powered PSU for a single GFX card.

A GTX960 is cheaper and models such as the ASUS Strix or MSI gaming run passive at low load.

Lastly that DVD is a bit expensive, there is a LG model instock at £13.

really appreciate the response and it was exactly the type of reply i was looking for to weed out any obvious incompatibilities.

This the updated basket i have went with using your recommendations. I do however need some help in picking a graphics card and a heatsink/fan.

This machine will not be used for overclocking or gaming in anyway, having dual monitor set up is the key feature needed.
It would need to have x2 DVI and if possible x2 HDMI outputs for when the monitors are upgraded to HDMI. I'm not precious for either Nvidia or AMD.

It's seems a pain that even the retails cpus don't ship with heatsinks, i just need something basic that gets the job done as no overclocking will be done.
