Got a £500 budget for mobo, cpu, ram, gfx, psu and cooler.

i have come up with this i5 build to succeed my current pentium d940 which is on its last legs.

what does everyone think to it? improvements welcome :)

For £500 theres not a lot better than that, i assume you already have HDD, optical drives and OS? But definately if u can squeeze it for £500, i5 is the way to go.

sweet, yeah iv got seagate barracuda 500gb, lightscribe optical drive and xp, will be upgrading OS to 7 64bit in the new year

ok cheers. wont be oc it until about this time next year probably ill keep it in mind, will be nice to enjoy the performance upgrade from my current rig.

And because you get two copies of DiRT2 you might be able to flog one to a friend and save yourself a bit of money.

I use that cooler on my E6600 which is O/C to 3.2 from 2.4 and think the hottest I ever seen my CPU is 48c ..so I think its a great cooler and does the job fine when I upgrade to my next machine most likely a i7 will stick with this cooler unless I have problems. Which I dont think I will have.

If your budget can stretch to it, I would recommend getting a second 5770 as they apparently scale very well in crossfire.
