Three/3 Network

Whilst I was with them, I had brilliant 3G signal strength and solid speeds throughout the day (not the fastest in my experience, but the least variable). Deals are good, and when it comes to leaving they are willing to give you a pretty damn good deal in order to get you to stay.

All the networks are just as bad as each other, they are all utterly hopeless 95% of the time.

As long as you are happy with the deal and you get a signal, go for it.

Im with three, been with them for 3 years now, previously i was on O2 for nearly 5 years, customer service on three is very hit and miss, most of the time you get an indian call centre, but if your lucky you get a scottish one, which is a lot easier to describe the problems as they are english and have a reasonable idea of what your talking about lol - Signal is mostly better than O2 ever was in my area, prices are comparable and the deals you can get are again just as good as any other network. Try and find people in your area that are on Three and see what they think of it, it might not work out too well where you are and so on.

Terrible. Just managed to get out of a 24 month contract less than 6 months in due to the 2G transmitter being turned off for at least 12 months for an upgrade - a rather large upgrade?!

Would avoid unless you're spending all your time in a city where the signal might be better...

Three never owned any 2G equipment - they used to use Orange's network for 2G when their handsets couldn't see a 3G network (but this was invisible to users) but then they got all high and mighty over the price and did a network share with T-Mob and then that joint network will merge with Oranges in 2011 hopefully.

Three have a reputation sorta like virgin media - when it's working its working well, fast and without issue. If you have to call their callcentre though you'll likely need your firstborn sacrificed in order for them to do anything to fix a billing issue.

From a technical perspective their network is well designed and fast though, not sure if that really helps :)

Just shows how little they know about their own network! Quite funny that...

I've escaped now to Orange, but thanks for the info :)

Data network seems pretty good, call quality on the other hand isn't the best.

Calls will drop 2/3 times over a 30 minute period as well, but i'm not sure if that's the handset or the network causing it.

Been with them almost 4 years now, had great coverage and 3G coverage is the best of any network imo. Not had to rely on the customer service many times at all, so can't fairly comment on it. That can only be a good thing though! The sales people are very good and knowledgeable (call centre, not in store as much).

Depending on your handset, if they decide to stop using the orange transmitters as well, if you have to rely on 3G coverage only, you may have a problem with signal indoors in some older buildings. This is really dependant on the handset in my experience, and is a quirk of 3G as far as I understand.

If they're giving you a good price (which their website prices aren't btw, you can get a lot better on the phone!), then go for it.
