Just renewed my contract and moved to the £20pm sim-free One Plan. Had my welcome letter, and on the back it says that the package cost is £25.00 per month, with a £5 discount (recurring).

What's going on here then? Now it's illegal for networks to raise prices mid-contract, is this a sneaky way of leaving the door open if they want to put the price up? I can't see any other reason for it, it's not like I got a special deal or anything.

In the past, with three, if I renewed my contract with the same price plan and the plan was now cheaper or superseded, they would reflect the cheaper price with this £5 discount. Loyalty discounts also appeared that way.

Hmmm, odd. Went from a £33 / month to this. Just don't see why they'd list the price like this.

I'd guess so they don't have to keep that price if you renew at the end. I've got similar on an Ipad contract.

You should have haggled a little better, as they will do that plan for £14 a month once you get to the final person before you leave.

But mine is also discounted the same way only a little higher discount.

It's just the way their system is apparently. As they have the same plan at so many different prices (£25, £15, and now £20), they instead put it on their system as a discount when they update. If you look in their T&Cs and on their website they make no mention of £25 with a £5 discount - they treat it as just £20. I very much doubt you have anything to worry about, and Three are in a great position at the moment - I don't think they'd want to ruin that with a 25+% price hike for loyal customers.

It seems you received this discount yourself? A rarity IMO, I've never heard of anybody getting that rate before.

Mine went up with orange a few moths in, so I don't really know what the networks are doing.

Ahhh, OK. Thanks. I'm still unsure why they use this wording but if it's just to make it easier for them then no problemo. You're right - putting the price up mid contract would be bad PR for them when other providers have done that too. I think I'd leave if they did.

It sounds amazing tbh, if true I'm kicking myself for not haggling!

I'm on Three on the One Plan SIMO. My bills states it's £25 with £10 recurring discount.

I assume that it's Three's way of doing things. They have a set database of plans for the system to use but use RD's to create a better range of plans for the customer to choose from.

It sounds like what Sky do. We usually go through the leaving process and then they start throwing discounts and extra's at you. The TV bill has the package on, then a negative amount for "Offers applied".

Yip Three have always done it this way.

My bill currently says -

SIM £10 10 May to 09 Jun £10.21
£3 Recurring Discount 10 May to 09 Jun -£3.06
£5 Recurring Discount 10 May to 09 Jun -£5.11
Free Add Internet Max 10 May to 09 Jun £0.00

So my bill before the All You Can Eat Data bolt-on is added is £2.04 :D

Looks like they have got rid of the One plan and put the price for the equivalent plan up by five pounds to £25, with a £2 "introductory discount".

Interesting just how much the One plan has gone up in price in the past couple of years.. about £10 total? It still seems good value, but it's getting less so.

I really can't fault Three. I'm on the discounted £15 a month One Plan.

Feel At Home has worked perfectly in France, Italy and the US, and I was even able to tether other devices whilst abroad provided they were phones or tablets.

Yep, and I have only just found out today that they have an agreement with Virgin that customers can use the latter's free wifi on London Underground. Been wishing for that for over a year!
