Three and Vodafone are merging!

Just received a message saying my area has been upgraded, I can now connect to Vodafone network automatically for more coverage.. What a joke. The data service in particular is worse than it's ever been. :(

I filed a complaint over the connection issues at my work address as previously mentioned, will see what happens live chat were useless.

Otherwise I'm off to 1p mobile.

I jumped from Lebara to Spusu and big difference at work and in general, this mergers never going to benefit the consumer, otherwise they wouldn't do it.

Oh dear!

Predictable, not sure anyone expected otherwise

I'm sure that'll be a massive success.

A new report has claimed that broadband and mobile giant Virgin Media and O2 (VMO2) are reportedly in the process of reaching a new agreement with India’s Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which is allegedly said to be worth around £750m over 10-years. The move could see the telecoms provider outsourcing some of their IT, such as in application management and infrastructure services.

Looks to be some truth in it.

The race to the bottom continues.

Telecoms only knows a few tricks, one of them is merging, another is outsourcing. The last one starts with “R” and ends with “edundancies”.

And I still only get coverage for half of my 50 minute train commute to London, it's probably because Hertfordshire is in the sticks...

Newly merged mobile and broadband operator VodafoneThree (Vodafone and Three UK) has today announced that they’re bringing over 400 customer contact jobs, which were previously based in India, back to the United Kingdom. The roles will now be based out of the Belfast and Sheffield centres of the operator’s partner, Concentrix.

like a game of musical chairs!

Lol, what a farce. It's onshored, they aren't Vodafone employees they're Concentrix employees. If it's anything like the Wipro/TCS days at C&W/Vodafone then they'll ship people over from India on short term contracts/training plans to do the job.

It also doesn't say if these are customer service roles for retail, or B2B - my cynical mind says it'll be for the latter.

As there isn't a more relevant thread and not worth starting one - Vodafone seems to have gone to complete **** around here and it isn't my phone - upload speeds of sub 1Mbit often as low as 0.1-0.2, download often below 2Mbit when on 4G though some places with a good 5G signal it will burst constantly to like 170Mbit but stuff is still slow loading and with stalls of 5-8 seconds which also affects phone calls where you get patches where one person can't hear the other. It hasn't been great for awhile but seems to have gone down the pan last 1-2 weeks and not just my local mast - also happens where I shop and where I work, etc. to varying degrees.

Annoyingly just started a new 2 year contract or I'd just straight up cancel.

Not a good move for any of us as consumers either. Vodafone have never been top tier for customer service or performance. At least Three had done reasonably well on performance since the core network overhaul.

I must be the anomaly on Talkmobile (Vodafone) - getting some of the best speeds I've ever seen! lol. I must be stealing your mhz @Rroff :p

And getting slated in the news last couple of days due to their practises around franchise stores.
Yep...they also offshored most of the support staff after promising to TUPE during the merger IIRC. I really wish the government would step in and stop this happening, as this move makes it very clear that this was essentially a covert hostile takeover, rather than a true merger; and reducing the choices we have as a nation, and therefore competition, is good for no one (except those profiting here from competition reduction).

Probably getting some of the Three capacity benefits coming on line if this has been in recent months it's improved; Vodafone's network has been very so so for some time, to the point I've got a work phone on it I barely use.

It ain't the MHz it is the mbits which are missing - in the same spot right now testing my Vodafone and EE sims with very similar signal quality I'm getting 10x higher speeds, 1/3rd the average latency and around 30x lower maximum latency with the EE sim than the Vodafone and that is with better results on Vodafone than yesterday - getting 5-6mbit/s down instead of 1-2...
