everything was working fine yesterday, i shut down the machine as usual, then today i go to start it up and as soon as i sign in - BSOD! it was not a normal BSOD with an error code, it was just "windows shut down to stop damage" or whatever

so the machine reboots, i sign in again - BSOD

and then i try again - BSOD a third time - the same message...

i turn the computer off and turn off the psu, let it sit for a few hours

i have just come back, went into the bios and put it back to stock, and it is working now (im very cautious!)

how can i know what went wrong? ive heard of people using minidump? whats that?

EDIT: this is my Home computer, it has been on OC Genie overclocking, not my own and has been running stable like this for two months

minidump can check for logs etc (if you know your way round), however this sounds like a bad OC, or a wrong value set within BIOS, see if you can flash your mobo to the latest one if you have not done so already

GUYS - i REALLY need help with this - this is really discouraging, it is a couple month old computer that has been working fine

AND NOW, ive got graphical glitches on the desktop - this is getting worse and worse...

no idea, my overclocks tend to end up with a game crashing and the pc freezing completely with a weird loud noise.. im just running at stock now.. happened when manually overclocked at 4.4 and oc genie at 4.2, might be a bad chip not sure lol. this looks like something to do with the graphics though hence the glitches.. can you try a diff card?

If you can get into windows, monitor the load and idle temps - GPU and CPU.

If not what are the temps like in the BIOS?

temps are fine, just like normal, psu is giving what it should be, gpu was never overclocked - maybe my windows installation? im really at my wits end :(

Have you checked and rechecked that all connections are secure - including the DVI/vga cable (from the monitor as well as the gfx card.)
