Hi

Long story short is between me and one of my neighbors. There is three driveways. Mine ,. Middle one and my neighbors one..

They live alone and there is no other car. This Tennant next door doesn't own the property they are renting. I have not seen in the last year their driveway outside the house being used as the primary space for them.

They have decided to always park in the middle but not only this as close as possible to my car

Why do people do this ? I really don't understand why they don't park outside their house. The owners of the property next door do not hold the right to the middle driveway .

I have hinted on a number of occasions why don't they park in their own space outside the property but it's like the tenant is earmarking their own space ..

I have had small chips appear on my driver's side I'm not pointing fingers but I don't like people parking super close to my car when there is no need

Anything that can be done as obviously hinting is not working..

I'm a good neighbor but this does anonoy me a little

Tell him straight exactly what you just told us. No pussyfooting around you don't have to be nice to people who are being awkward on purpose

Cheers if I see the Tennant in passing I will just ask them if they could give a bit of space hopefully they get the hint.

Who's space is the middle space then? A guest space?

Just take the space for yourself then and park really close to them until they get the message.

It's a shared space yes like I said I don't mind if it's used as a secondary space. Not when the person is not using their own space as a primary space and leaving their own space empty for no reason

Sounds like it is a deliberate wind up job from the neighbour parking so close to you.
I take it you are not on sociable speaking terms with them?

As indicated above, tell them straight, no point in trying to be nice with people like this.
I like the bird seed option, not heard of that one before, definite deterrent if they have a nice car.

No I get on with all my neighbors, even adjacent .just not this one. I have tried to be friendly and engage but they just don't want to know .

I'm also never usually the one to get annoyed by neighbors

Some people are just ****s unfortunately

This needs pictures to make sense of

When he says "driveway" he probably means parking spaces.

So, essentially, there are 3 parking bays side-by-side. OP uses bay 1, neighbour should really use bay 3 which leaves bay 2 (middle bay) as a spare/visitor bay. The neighbour however uses bay 2 and also parks right up against the OP who is in bay 1.

This is correct yes

Technically and legally speaking the neighbour is allowed to park in that space, so it's not up to you to dictate where they park. It's not causing you any inconvenience and it's unlikely they are chipping your car. Even if they were, it's best not to get precious about that, it can happen anywhere. It's better to be on good terms with your neighbour so I would try your best to get over it and put it in perspective. I hope that helps.

Agree with this.

It's probably down to the neighbour whose allocated parking space is the middle one, as technically the person you have a grievance with is parking in their space.

But it would annoy me. I get precious about my car and even when going shopping park well away from entrances or find spaces with plenty of room. I've even ruled out a house purchase because of parking arrangements.
