Hello,
I have a ZTE mc801a router supplied by three.
Bit of a strange story, they essentially lost all my contract information and said they have no record of the router existing so are not asking for it back.
In my current area, 5g signal is strong but three broadband offer only 4g. If I want to sign back up with them, they will send me a new 4g router.

I'm not sure if the router I have is locked to three. Is there any way I can find out, and any advice on whether I can just buy a cheaper data only sim and continue using the device?

Thanks!

Would smarty work no questions asked? My voxi sim plugged in ok, no pop ups regarding it being locked, but there was no network connection.

Ideally I'd go for a UW sim as they use the ee network which has better coverage in my area

If the voxi sim didn't work it might be locked to 3 in which case an EE network sim probably won't work either.

You might be able to find a way to unlock it.

Smarty should work fine as they are a 3 mvno (and actually owned by 3 iirc)

I fixed it by editing the APN settings.

Now trying to choose between this

Or utility warehouse sim! Smarty as a backup option

Can I ask what APN settings you used? I'm on EE and having the same problem
