Hi Chaps,

Those who use Three, are they any good?

As I can't decide what Phone I want next, I've decided to stick with my Nexus 5 and switch provider. I've seen a Three deal, 1 month rolling, £20 with Unlimited Data and 200min per month. Which would suit me.

I've checked their Coverage thingy and at home I would appear to have a decent 4G signal. So, the question is...How are Three?

I've been with them for years and not had any issues that I can recall.

They now have an app that means you can make calls and texts using your wifi if signal is patchy in your home, and then there's the 'Feel at home' thing where you can use your data/calls/texts allowance in a whole host of foreign countries.

Not sure what your deal is, but mine's 1 month rolling at 12.90 a month with unlimited data, 200 minutes, 5k texts etc.

Their 4G roll-out is an absolute joke. Their 3G network is getting slower and more congested.

If you can go EE I would just because their network is much better.

If the Hutchison (Three's parent company) acquisition of O2 UK is allowed to go ahead, I would expect Three's network and coverage to improve significantly. That won't be for sometime though.

No issues here but wow their prices have gone up, I too am on the £12.90 deal.
Free 4g where available, I have a home signal box for at home, unlimited data, feel at home is very nice if you use it.
Data speed in Lancaster is bad but so are all providers but Ive seen my 3g speeds up past 25mbs before so its just location based.

If you ever have to ring their CS though your in for a world of pain.

I've been with Three for about 5 years now and I've found them to be much of a muchness coverage-wise to be honest!

I've had occasions where I've had zero signal where my wife's mobile on Orange/EE has had full bars - but I've also had it work the other way around!

It just so happens that the signal at my home is terrible but to Three's credit they have given me one of their "home signal boxes" that gives me full signal through some sorcery or other involving my home Wifi!

4G-wise I've found the speeds to be pretty poor when compared to EE that my mates have but it's free and suits my uses anyway!

On the customer service side I've always had a great experience with them - had an issue where I went to Vegas and for some reason they had enabled roaming for texts but not for calls - a quick e-mail and tweet was responded to within a couple of hours and it was sorted! (also nice that you can use all of your minutes, texts and data abroad in a lot of countries for no extra cost!!!)

On the whole I'd have no concerns recommending them as a carrier!

I've been with Three for a while now. Signal is excellent. I'm currently on holiday in the lake district, where I thought I would struggle to get signal at all, yet I'm getting a solid 28Mb down over 3G. 4G performance is very good too. Really cannot fault them at all.

The things they offer such as the 'Feel at home' thing where you can use your allowance abroad in a good few countries, and free 0800 calls as well, it's all good.

I've been with them for years. Never had any real problems with coverage. The feel at home perk is massively beneficial.

I had problems with my phone a couple of years back (HTC One) and they repaired/swapped with no real issue.

i have a 1 month rolling One Plan which i pay £18 for:

3 to 3 Minutes 5,000
Texts 5,000
Voice minutes 2,000
All-you-can-eat data

only poor thing still no 4g in my area

feel at home and unlimited data (along with what I thing is the best network for data coverage) make them a good bet. pricey, but very good imo.

For some reason the first week for my gf and myself we had terrible data issues, basically no data/dropout half the time.

Then after that it was fine

Apart from that they have been excellent, on the £12.90 1 month deal also, using it in the US is also really good (although most places have free wifi now!)

I'm still on the £12.90 rolling monthly plan, had no issues where I get signal, sadly I get no signal at home but the 3 wifi calling app is pretty good and works as a decent alternative to having signal.

It's £15 if you don't mind a 12 month minimum term. It's what I'm going on once my One Plan term ends the end of this month.

I have been with three for 8 months. Very good on the whole. Compared to Vodafone who I was with previously I find I get slightly more black spots but when there is a signal it is solid for data. I can stream netflix, Sky go etc to the phone fine.

As mentioned above the Feel at Home thing is great if you travel. Not sure if it kicks in immediately on short term contracts and pay as you go though. IIRC it may only apply from Month 2. I have a 12 month deal and it did kick in immediately.
