Three monitors?

Ok, I had a problem where I couldn't connect three monitors (two DVI and one HDMI) to my 6950. After searching the internet, I've discovered that I need to use the displayport if I want to use more than three.

Pretty sure they are passive not active, so no.

I have a XFX Active MiniDP to DVI Adapter cost about £20,got given mine free, not sure if OCuk stock them though.

I think the Active adapters have a USB cable to provide the power.

It appears some require USB and others don't. Been looking and the active XFX ones don't require USB, which is a bit strange.

OCUK used to sell these active adapters, but not any more it would seem.

If your HD 6950 has a mini DP output then have a google for a "StarTech.com 20 cm DVI adapter".

Some of the adapters (like the above one) are active, but draw the power it needs from the DP port - so an extra USB power connection isn't required.

They were XFX branded ones, I seem to recall, could have were I got mine from.
