Three New Star Wars Games from EA/Respawn

Respawn are working on a Star Wars flavoured FPS for EA, as well as a sequel to JFO and a strategy title too. I'm trying to not get too excited, but Respawn have a great pedigree with shooters. Fingers crossed.

I think one of the guys involved with the FPS was a dev on the original Battlefront series as it happens, but I think BF3 is dead for now.

There is that, true enough. However, Respawn's record is pretty good. My main worry is the workload they're undertaking - these three games at various stages of development, continuing work on Apex Legends, and another unannounced title they're supposed to be working on. Hopefully EA give them the resources they need or they'll be stretched to breaking point.

Star Wars Galaxies was truly one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. You really felt like there was a Galaxy. Player built towns. Trade and economy. The sheer size of the game.

I remember only getting to level 60 or so. Taking bounties to hunt jedi as a bounty hunter. Sending the drones out to find which planet and roughly where on the planet. Barely affording enough dosh to buy some food (buffs) to go toe to toe with one. Only to find this one jedi was fresh and ran for his life as he would lose a lot from dying.

I then saved ages to make some unique coloured armour then go to a tataooine bar to chill out.

And then they completely nuked the game with the "update".

From what I've read it was less than a year from release and was looking very good. Then Lucasfilm games basically stopped working on their own games and sold the exclusive licence to EA who scrapped it. Some say without even looking at it.

I wonder was it because it was a single player game, which EA pretty much ignored for years.

Fallen order 2 should be great. Other than the first one, I’ve been disappointed with SW games in the past decade.

Once they fixed it and removed the very predatory Loot Box scenarios Battlefront 2 was a good, fun shooter.

As others have said, Fallen Order was a great game and Squadrons was good as well so the recent track record has been decent.
