Three pin instead of Four pin ?

OK can I use a three pin fan on my cooler instead of a four pin fan please ?.....ie use a three pin fan and connect it to the four pin CPU_FAN Header on my mobo please or will I just have to use an adapter ?...thanx

Yes but there would be no PWM control!

Yes you can plug a 3 pin fan into a 4 pin header. As above though it will run at full speed. You might be able to lower the speed in the Bios or by using your motherboards software.

Don't think you will be stuck at full speed as you can choose the speed in the bios but it wont regulate itself.

If it's the board in your sig then you can use Asus Fan Xpert software.

Even without the Fan Xpert software most Asus boards can control 3pin fans using voltage regulation in the BIOS.
