And i'm not entirely sure what effect you're reffering to!
The sky is visible because it was illuminated by city lights... And there is a red cast because I had the WB way off the mark (but couldn't be arsed to change it, because it was ******* it down... In hindsight I liked the effect)

Can people tell me what it is they like about no.2 please? Don't get me wrong, I like it - I wouldn't have posted it otherwise, but i'm curious to know why others like it

Third shot is indeed a Kiwi. My "thinking" behind that was that when I was fiddling with the (colour) image I thought it may look good as a B&W shot. I always use the channel mixer tool for B&W shots, so was checkin to see what information was in each channel. I really liked all the channels, but for different reasons, so I decided it would be interesting to use them all. I think with a little time and effort you could reconstruct a colour image out of that lot!
