Three, removing the content filter...

Tried to visit a link earlier to Vice Magazine from my phone. I'd completely forgot about the content filter, and having it removed since getting this contract...
Went into the shop today, where I was put on a call with support. *bangs head on the table*
**I'll get this out the way now. UK phone support should never be in non English speaking country, they just don't understand what you're asking. **

Anyway, my request for Three to "remove the content block" for internet browsing", was met by confusion. I was given a pin number, told to wait 2-4 hours and sent on my way. Had a laugh with the guys in the shop and left.
Trying Vice Magazine now, brings me to a hardcore search page and this pin number just takes me through to pay per view services...
Not what I wanted at all, infact, it's utterly ridiculous and almost offensive. I'm just trying to view a website, not hoard pornography on the go... :confused:

So, how did people here go about getting the adult content block removed?
Was it done by people in the shop or was it a dragged out conversation to customer support?
Do we get signed up to this Three adult services **** by default or is it something that can be disabled?

Not 100% sure im assuming you're payg, if so then setting up your credit card as payment 'should' do it

If it's contract id imagine a very painful phonecall to cs is necessary.

It's why im payg, phoning them is rather painful.

Or if you wait, you might be alright.

I am with Virgin Mobile monthly contract and i just had to log onto my account on their website and take a tick out of a box......

24 hour later everything available no charges.

I was trying to access a poker site just for your information , no pron sites...

Actually thinking about it, i had to do this years back, not sure if it's changed.

It's pretty much what i said. I had to setup my cc with my three online account, so i could pay for various tv services, some were 18 so required this.

Once i setup the cc the filter was removed, all done through my three phone, which could be why you're having probelms if your phone isn't for three.

How do I remove the filter?
As long as you’re over 18 and using a phone that’s listed below, just call us on 333 and we’ll do this for you.
If you’re on Pay As You Go and haven’t previously been age-verified to use the Top Shelf service, you’ll need to have a credit card in your name to remove the filter.
Open internet access will at first become available on these smartphones. If you don’t have one of the phones on the list, please bear with us while we update our data settings. You’ll have open internet access on any phone from July 2011.

I'm on Vodafone and just rang them up and they removed it instantly - not PAYG though.

After about 20 minutes on the phone yesterday the guy said it would cost this, he said you get an extra 2gb allowance once this filter was off so I guess this is why they charge so much?

I said that I thought it was a bit unreasonable to have this as a paid service, also that it was an utter disgrace that they expect me to pay so much for it.
Was put on hold for ages and the guy told me they'd waive the fee.
I wasn't keyboard warrior raging over the phone, just trying to convey my dissapointment towards Three.

Links to Vice Magazine work now, without going to the shambolic Three adult service "restriction" page.

Chances are, there'll be no other sites this would have caused issue with but I really don't like a phone company trying to dictate what I can and can't do with the internet.

Yeah, when I had my voda 3G broadband they removed it from the shop when asking. T-mobile, if I remember right, I turned it off myself from their "my account" page. Sounds like Three are just trying to get cash from this.

Telling porkies on the £5 thing.

Content lock can be removed on my3 account as long as you know the account PIN.

I couldn't find how to remove it from the mobile site, shop said I needed to phone up also.

Possible they say it will cost for everyone in the hope that they just say "forget it"?
I imagine they must get some cash with people going through links on their adult service restriction page.
