Throttle cable?

On my way back from work yesterday, I found that my bike was revving quite a bit on right hand corners but fine on lefts. After a bit of digging about, it seems that the throttle cable is the culprit, possibly pinched on something or a bit tight/worn. Is there a visual clue to use to determine if the cable just needs adjusting or replacing?

Bike is a 99 Bandit 600 and it's done just over 6k miles if that makes any difference...

I have seen people mention lubricating a throttle cable I've not got the faintest on how to do things like this...

Cheers!

If it's only occurring on right hand turns then either the cable is not routed correctly or you simply don't have enough slack in the cable. If it's not obviously getting tightly bent when you turn right, then you should be able to introduce some slack from the twist grip end of the cables using the adjusters - obviously the opening cable (the one that gets pulled when you open the throttle) is the one that will need some more slack

Bag of oil seal it over one end then turn it upside down so gravity drags the oil down the cable, you can work it in a bit however I'd be tempted to buy a new cable as it could be the plastic coating on the inside of the cable worn through and pinching the cable.

Last thing you want is a revving bike when you're in trouble.

I did play with the adjustment under the handlebar but to get the setting I needed, the cable was ridiculously slack so I didn't want to leave it at that. The 2nd half of the cable to the engine seems fine so it must be pinched somewhere.

The cable's 13 years old so I suppose there's no harm in replacing it. Is it a straightforward job with low chance of mucking up the right tension? I'm trying to see if I can actually do this myself rather than throwing every problem to the garage to fix.

My concern is that the situation arose quite suddenly rather than a gradual one, so something could have been quickly damaged?

yes id look to reroute it,seems like its snagging when you turn handlebars right and pulling the throttle on a little
