Throttle?

I currently have an i3 [email protected] with 2x 5870 crossfire.

Would an upgrade to EVGA GeForce GTX 580 SuperClocked w/Backplate 1536MB be worth the cost or would it be throttled by the CPU?

It wouldn't be worth the cost as prices will fall very soon as new Ati cards are just round the corner.

'Upgrading' to just one 580 from 5870 crossfire is a step backwards though, in all honesty. Unless you meant you'd be getting two!

It shouldn't be bottlenecked by the CPU, since yours is clocked nicely.

I'm purely going from this though;

Shows CF 5870 to be ahead in 95% of games there, so they should be able to cope for a while longer yet.

A 580 might 'feel' smoother however, depends if you got issues with your current setup.

Those are quite compelling numbers! No issues whatsoever just a bug to upgrade...
