Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick

Spent a lot more than that on Simulator gear. You pay for quality. Lots of people use this stuff to practice for actual FAA tests. That joystick is an exact replica of the throttle and joystick quadrant that is on the real life A-10 Warthog mainly for use with DCS which is a study simulator.

That's nothing mate. People who have sims at home can spend thousands on their gear and also they don't only play these recent space games like SC, ED. ;)

You would have to be a complete no-lifer to buy one of those, it's just ridiculous. I've had mine for a few weeks, and loving it. Will be playing Elite most of tonight before I go to bed feeling lonely and wondering why I don't have a girlfriend to play Elite with on a Saturday night.

That's nothing really, I do the same with Wheels etc and they are worth every penny.

People can spend thousands upgrading their systems every year but in reality does the upgraded hardware increase their enjoyment of a game? probably not, whereas a peripheral such as a joystick/wheel can add a new dimension to a game and the chances are it's not going to be out of date over night.

Ah yes. Our top selling joystick.

What even is the point of this thread? No seriously?

Read ANY other thread on this forum, there will be people buying £500 graphics cards they replace in 12 months. People buying thousands of pounds worth of audio or home cinema equipment, people buying brand new Audi R8s.

There is a market for high end anything.

If you use your computer for 8 hours a day or more, it makes sense to invest in quality peripherals to make your experience pleasurable. Thats why people buy mechanical keyboards and quality mice.

If you enjoy flight simulation games, then a quality joystick is a great investment.

I deal with a company who make their money selling racing simulators. Their most popular model is £20k. It may sound wild to you but there are people who have the disposable income where a £300 peripheral is literally nothing to them.

We sold 200+ flight sticks last month.

The reality is that even our most expensive flight sticks and steering wheels are classed as toys compared to what is available.

Full cockpits for planes, actuated platforms with £8k wheel and £5k pedal set ups using thousands of pounds worth of surround 4k projectors or screens.

It really is nothing

I only have two issue with mine. The first is no twist on the stick so a set of rudder pedals would be nice. Also, I think I need a bigger desk now.

I'm fairly certain the warthog controls have pedals in real life which is why the replica controller is like that too.

Yup that is correct, they wanted to keep it as authentic as possible, so there is no Z-axis rotation. They should really offer rudder pedals as an add on product, I'm sure there is a market for it.

I don't know why they don't offer matching pedals. No peripheral vendor really does anything that fits the bill to my knowledge apart from saitek

Every joystick should be good for Elite, my old one was a Logitech Extreme 3D which was a lot of fun and made the dog fighting easy compared to mouse and keyboard but there were several buttons not registering anymore and others that needed a really hard push (had it since Battlefield 2 so it had a decent lifespan) and I was ready for an upgrade. The X55 was my first choice as it was a bit more affordable but after pre-ordering and stock being low, the more I read reviews of both joysticks convinced me to plump up the extra money for the Warthog. It's metal, seems a lot of money but I feel you certainly get what you pay for. It doesn't feel like a toy, probably too much joystick for a lot of games where a joypad would even suffice.

MFG Crosswind's all the way! Used to have the Saitek combat pedals and they pale in comparison.

I've had my pc fully up and running for nearly five months and still haven't touched dcs a-10 or bms falcon and they're two of the main sims I bought it for.

I had a good few weeks on fsx with my old joystick but all I really play now is arma and I'm not getting one just for arma.

I'm definitely getting one at some point though along with a good wheel for AC
