Thrustmaster T. 16000M not working

It's been a few years since I've used it but recently dug it out and plugged it in....nothing(?) I tried other USB ports and nothing again. It was working fine the last time it was used. Not sure where to go from here so any advice appreciated.

Well this is embarrassing. After scratching my head for ages I just thought I would take a look under the hood as I'd run out of options and found the cable connecting the socket to my MB had come lose and wasn't even connected!

That said when I look at the Device Manager it is listed as 'Unsupported Game port for Thrustmaster ACM (second port) (???)
