Okay, it's that time of the year and thunderbugs are plaguing my area. Sadly one has decided that the gap between the front of my screen and my LCD is a nice place to live.

Any ideas how to get rid of it? I'm hoping it dies off-screen, but knowing my luck it'll be right in the centre.

It's like a walking dead pixel!

I feel your pain!
I've got one today, but it is dead and just off centre of the screen :/

Only thing I can be thankful for is that I OCUK are out of stock of the BenQ xl2730z right now and it's my trusty 6yo Iiyama that took the hit. They need to bugger off sharpish!

Sound advice Tephnos, though as this is the first time I've splashed out on a nice screen (Samsung 32D850D, nice in my eyes!) I'm rather reluctant to try.

It seems to have wondered off-screen, or so I can hope, or perhaps it got bored of a Norwegian fjord has gone to find a better place to die inconveniently.

So pretty much the only option is to disassemble and remove? And therefore ruin my warranty?

I've had this before and they do die and eventually disintegrate, if your monitor doesn't have warranty stickers on the screws I reckon you will be okay to take it apart as long as you don't break it in the process.

One tactic I used many moons ago was to place a torch at night pointing at the corner of the screen. I thought I'd squished him because I was massaging the dead pixel, but he loved the light and made his escape..

I remember having one stuck in my monitor last year, thankfully overnight he wandered across to the side of the screen. Obvious advice would be to not squash him, as you'll have no choice but to take it apart then. Not much you can do otherwise.

3 days in and the bug hasn't returned. Fingers crossed it hasn't gone and laid a thousand bug-eggs off screen and has instead decided to die.

Panic over, screen has returned to normal...for now!
