Hi guys,

Unfotunatly my wag54g router is now in a smoldering heap of plastic due to yesterdays weather, currently im using my phone for gprs internet.

I was wondering what the best all-in-one is right now?

dyndns, external dynamic ip, wireless and perfect stability is required as my wag never crashed once untill it fried.

tia. :)

I do have a surge protector, however it was struck through the phone line, what i dont understand is how the router was fried but the phone and fax which plug into the same port survived?

I need to buy the router from ocuk today as its along the path i take to pick up the kids from school, unfortunatly they do not stock the wag54g anymore or i would have not asked. :)

I have ordered a netgear dg834g, i didnt have time to go there, traffic was  as usual.
I hope this has snmp or its going right back.

Nathan, i have a surge protector for my ethernet line that comes from the wag to the main network switch, according to the logs on my ups, this has stopped the surge going any further.
However it would seem that i do need to invest in a dsl line suppressor. :(

R.I.P wag54g.

Unfortunatly i had a DG834G v2 and it did not have any form of usable SNMP.

in that case i will cancel the order and get the wag354g, im sure my cantenna's are up to the job of insane wifi coverage like i had on my wag. :)

same problem here, next door got hit, came along the phone line, killed 1st router went to other two also got dead ports, fax is dead too

server still alive

got few dead lan cards to replace, and firealarm(i need to check),

had protection on everything but the adsl line grr

can it damage lan cables too?, sure some not working too well.

but next door had protection and lost everything tv, ps2, pc, latops, everything that was plug in

I had to belt round the house turning everything off and unplugging it, unfortunatly it seems the sky box didnt survive as i had not got round to that along with the kids' nintendo ds chargers.

My ups has an ethernet surge protector on it, so everything before that (the wag) died.

 Why was i the only one to suffer problems in nantwich....yeesh.

Currently sitting on a rather lame usb dsl modem, i get a better ping by walking to the pc im pinging.
