Noticed last night that I’ve suddenly got 16 thunder flies inside the screen of my 65” KS8000....!

Having experienced this previously in an older Samsung tv, I’m pretty resigned to the fact that they’ll be dead and won’t come out...

So, anyone had any luck with refund / exchange / repair via John Lewis for this problem? I’ve often read that it isn’t usually covered under warranty, however I have read a few success stories and in fact I did have a tv refunded years back because a thunder fly got stuck right in the middle of it (but recall that being a major ball ache that went on for weeks).

Feeling depressed as am sure it’s going to be a big struggle to get fixed via warranty, however surely it proves that the tv is not fit for purpose if a whole hoard of flies can crawl inside it?

Got John Lewis repair people coming out this week to take a look (so far I’ve simply reported it as black dots on the screen), so unsure how best to play things to get a satisfactory resolution.

I had this with a BenQ monitor, sadly out of warranty and being right in the middle of the monitor it was impossible not notice, I tried getting the front off to clean it out but sadly it didn't work and a new monitor was ordered. Next summer I'll be surrounding the new one with Raid fly killer!

As far as JL is concerned, just plead ignorance, claim it's a fault with the screen. Surely it is a fault as they shouldn't be able to get in there in the first place though.

So, repair people have taken the tv away to replace the screen... odd question, but considering it’s last years model, how can I check that it’s been replaced with the same KS8000 panel and say not a newer (worse) MU panel? (As an example)?

Thunder fly. Recently one crept into my 32inch 4k monitor. I wasn't happy one little bit. Third time this has happened in last few years.

No insurance I know of will this unfortunately and I've been left fuming over how annoying and devaluing it can be.

Easy fixable :

I've had this a few times over the last couple of years with my Dell 24" monitor. I just strip it down and clean then out :) Did that earlier this year, put it all back together only for another 2 to be in there 3 weeks later. They're still there and getting annoying as one of the I keep thinking is another player in PUBG!!!

I've gone through 25 years of gaming/tvs/monitors/cinema rooms and never come across this. Am I just lucky? Any mark or stuck/dead pixel annoys me to death so I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed if I had it.
