i'm looking for a way to have it so everything on firefox and thunderbird is automatically back up and synced between between multiple computers e.g. i download a new app forr firefox on pc1, i want it so when i go to firefox on pc2 it'll get downloaded and installed, along with bookmarks etc, and then similar with thunderbird on pc1, if i download an email, read it and sort it into a folder, this'll happen onto pc2 thunderbird so it's in that folder etc.

is there anything that can do this?

For email - thats setting up an IMAP account so all your emails are stored on the server

FF - not sure but if its book marks (and settings[?]) then its FirefoxSync or XMarks - not sure you can do the apps (you mean add-ons?) But what I'd do there is use the above, bookmark the link and the install again on your other FF; this is what I do. over several computers

As above, IMAP will solve your email syncing. You cannot sync add-ons between machines automatically. You will just have to install them manually. Be easiest to just keep them all bookmarked and add them as you need them. You may find you don't use some add-ons on certain machines.

yeah sorry i meant add-ons, not sure why i said apps...

there must be a better way to do it. if i copy the firefox profile folder will this copy all my add-ons and settings, bookmarks and all that?

how do i set up imap? i currently have 8 email accounts in thunderbird, most work so from vidahost, 1 gmail the other hotmail. it needs to have it so the emails go into the folders i sort them into

You might want to take a look at http://portableapps.com/

They have Firefox and Thunderbird in portable form. Just install to a USB stick and move between machines. Or if you want two copies then use something to sync a copy (of the portable apps folder) between the two machines.

Yes it will. You need to copy everything from within the '******.default' folder into the respective folder on the other computer. Note that you can't copy the folder itself as the names will be different on each pc. This will copy everything, including all your settings for all your add-ons. This is what I do to keep my laptop in sync with my desktop.
