Hello all,

At the moment I use 1 computer for business/pleasure. I want to buy a second and run it in another room (for my business).

I plan to use the same email prog (thunderbird) on both rigs. What I want to know is if I receive an email into my business inbox and I check on my 'pleasure' computer, then if I then downloaded emails on my business computer - would the email show up even though its already been downloaded?

Sorr if its sounds complicated.

Thanks

I'm about to try a similar thing using WinXP and Linux on the same machine. If both machines (or OS's) access and modify the same profile folder i think it just might work :)

Obviously you'd need to share the profile on the network such that the "other" machine could access it.

I've no practical experience of this, its all guess work at this stage so probably won't work! :D

If your email supports IMAP use that protocol, using this method you read messages that are held on the server and only when you delete them from your inbox are they deleted from the server.

If you use POP3 you can choose to 'leave message on the server' although for some reason , this is not advised.

I leave my messages on the POP server until I delete them from one of my computers. All my IMAP accounts are obviously current wherever I access them :)
