Long story short, I had Windows 7 give me a bootsector error upon startup. I tried to repair it to no avail so re-installed Windows giving me a Windows.old folder.

My Thunderbird folder is in there, I'm trying to see if I can somehow recover all my emails that were in there before the crash. Just running the app gives me a blank screen with options to start a new email address etc.

Does anyone please know how to recover my emails? I do occasionally use Mozbackup but I haven't used it for a long while unfortunately.

When you set up Thunderbird, there was an option to leave on the server. If you have this done, reinstalling Thunderbird will bring down a copy of your emails that haven't been deleted.

Copy your Thunderbird folder from your old user accounts %appdata% folder to your new one, restart Thunderbird.

This^^

I keep my Thunderbird and Firefox Profiles on a separate drive then fisrt run of the program is with the -P argument to startup with the profile chooser Set up a new account pointing to the location of said profile and job done!

If you don't know, the %appdata% above is entered into the Win 7 search bar. From there you click on Roaming, which should let you see your Thunderbird profile folder.

Alternatively, go old school and enter C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird

check on the left where it says google mail it should all be in there
well for some reason mine is no idea why as i dont use google mail
