How do you save or copy emails?

Need to copy all the emails I have in my XP OS on one hard drive into the Thunderbird on my Vista OS hard drive.

Can any one help me out...?

Thank you. :)

If your incoming server is IMAP then if you just enter your server settings into thunderbird on a new install then your emails should appear as IMAP is a sort of window into your message box and doesn;t move the email permanently from the server to your computer. If your incoming server is POP3 then that moves the email from the server to your computer when it is read therefore entering the email settings to a new install will not bring them back and this is where my support ends as I have no idea how to copy exisiting emails to another copy of thunderbird if using pop3.

I hope the info I ahve provided is correct.

Thanks

Neil

To copy your emails do the following:

On the XP Machine go to Start > Run and type %appdata%\Thunderbird\Profiles\ and hit [ENTER].
Copy the folders from there to an external USB Drive/CD/DVD.

Install Thunderbird on the Vista PC and setup the email account. Copy the folder(s) into the %appdata%\Thunderbird\Profiles\ directory under Vista.
