Thunderbird has suddenly gone mad!
Fortunately my e-mail archives are still available on webmail (I have set it to save on server even after downloaded)
But anything later than 2008 has vanished from the Thunderbird main index
(The extent of the disruption varies amongst the sub folders. some are still up to date, others have suffered varying degrees of loss)
The only clue is that I got a blast of spam last night.
This seemed rather odd so I immediately did a malwares scan and picked up an PUP optimizer which I deleted (Stupidly
before writing down the exact name, but I did check on line and it wasn't one that was regarded as a major threat, just a nuisance). The only clue is that its time stamp was the same time as all one on all the spam
(I have since done ccleaner, Spybot and windows defender this morning and all now seems clear)
So, what is going on and how can I fix it??
(Re the other thread regarding which mail client to use. I have alwayls liked Thunderbird but I have always found it clunky. this recent incident has put me right off however. even if I fix it I might still want to find an alternative)
