Hi all, came back from a weekend away, upon opening up Thunderbird, it asked me to steup a new account (as if the program had just been installed). Inspecting my profile folder it all seems intact, mmy "mail" folder is abotu 90mb so obviously my stuff is all still there. I copied this folder, setup a new account and copied it back, but upon opening thunderbird there are no emails there, my settings etc are not there.

Any advice :)

First thing I'd do is quit TB, then take a copy of the entire TB data folder:

%appdata%\Thunderbird

Once you've got a backup, you can troubleshoot without fear of losing anything.

Now take a look inside the folder hierarchy and see how many profiles you've got. Which one has the data? Is it listed in Profiles.ini?

It's been a long time since TB gave me any problems, but once I got a profile back just by creating a fresh (empty) one, quiting TB then copying all the contents of my old profile into the new one. Worth a shot?

Edit: Duh! Just re-read your post and you've already done all that. :(

Seemed to have recovered some of the inbox, but it seems up to its december 12th 2005 level.

Edit; it recommends placing all mail in one folder, hopefully that will work.

^ yea tried it yesterday, didnt work.

What did work was, instead of copying all the pop3.blueyonder.co-1/2/3/4.uk etc folders into one, i simply retained the largest folder and renamed it, deleting all the others.

Thanks for you help mate. Problem Solved :) :)
