Hi.

I'm trying thunderbird as an alternative to Outlook and AOL software and I notice all old messages are kept in Inbox with all new messages. Is there no way of seperating all old messages from new, maybe having a new folder for new email and old for old email?

Thanks
Willz.

Wrong board pal. But yes you can. Run a message filter with dates set to what you want to transfer to another folder, and your done. Or use the 'status' or 'age in days' filters also.

Is it possible to make the filter run automatically? Always on?

And also can I customize the interface, like have the view different so instead of the mail on top of the welcome view at the bottom have them side by side?

Yes the filter will run automatically once set up.

To my knowledge (and just had a play around), you can't customize it to that degree. Although there are 3 preset configurations, but they are all pretty similar. There are lots of extensions you can download that may offer the layouts you require.

I don't remember off the top of my head if there was a setting you had to apply to get them automatically. I'm pretty sure it's just, 1) make the filter, 2) run it manually, 3) sit back and it will do it every time on startup of TB.
