thunderbird to open firefox?

hi
on my comp the wife uses internet explorer and i use firefox and thunderbird email, but when i click a link in thunderbird it opens i.e, how can i make it open firefox instead without making firefox the default internet explorer as i want to keep IE the default?

to be honest, i keep her on IE to keep my favs away from prying eyes
