Trying to set up and configure Mozilla Thunderbird on a PC here, never used it before. After I downloaded and installed the latest version it asked me if I wanted to import from Outlook Express. I chose to import "everything" and let it do its stuff. Upon looking at the account settings it appears it has put everything where it requires to be but it wont connect to the server when I try and download or send email. I didn't at any stage enter my email account password as it didn't ask me to.

I had a look in the Options>>>Security area and there is a button there that says "Saved Passwords". However if you click on that all it brings up is a blank box which has 3 buttons at the bottom greyed out saying "Remove" , "Remove All" and "Show Passwords". There doesn't appear to be anywhere in the Account settings or Options to enter a password?. I'm guessing I'm missing something really daft here but having never used Thunderbird I'm not familiar with it at all.

Any ideas folks?. Ta. :)

If I remember righly, it asks you for your password when you try and connect to the server and thats when you can save it.

Seems like you aren't getting as far as connecting to the server hence why you have yet to get that option. I'd check your server settings.

Yeah, theres something not right in there but I can't for the life of me figure it out as I'm used to Outlook and OE. I know its the same settings that get entered but the layout of Thunderbird is throwing me a bit.

It's Freeserve the email account is with that I'm trying to set up.
