Anyone managed to find any that come just as the enclosure without drives?

I can only find ones that comes with pre-exsisting drives, which are of no use to me.

Looking for primarily a 4+ Drive Enclosure for 4 x Samsung 840 Pro 512GB.

Theres a guy in the USA on the popular auction site that sells just the plastic enclosures of the GoFlex 2.5" if that helps.. I used this with the WD Thunderbolt adapter to house my Crucial M4

Looks like a decent solution but I need all drives on one thunderbolt line.

There is a reason why they are expensive, the way it works is very clever. THat's what you are paying for.

Mind my ignorance then, but what is so special about them compared to buying the WD or Pegasus Enclosure taking the drives out and putting mine in ( comes to same price).

The RAID technology in them.

Drobo 5D also comes with a slot for SSD so it makes it even faster as it stores the most recent/most accessed files in that. It also has built in UPS in case of power cut. You can also use different size HD for RAID too.

Might go for the 5D. But I assume the 5D can take SSD's in all of its SATA slots? Also annoying it's cheaper in $ than in £, they obviously just changed the currency symbol around.

Why not go for the Drobo Mini in that case, it takes 2.5" drives by default so the SSD will slot straight in and it's cheaper than the 5D? It also has the mSata bay in it like its larger brother, so if you went HDD you could speed it up with an mSata drive.

To give it more versatility in the future.
