Thunderflies!

Hi,

I bought an Acer AL1715 some two years ago from a competitor site for around £150 and a year ago a thunderfly managed to get between the foreward surface and the actual screen thing/part and died in the middle of the screen!.

I rang up the site and was diverted to Acer in an attempt to get it RMA'd but they explained it came with a shield and that it should prevent them getting in. I told them, I just used the monitor as it should be and did nothing to alter or beak the shield/monitor, but the bloke told me it wasn't covered by the warranty, so I was out of pocket either way.

Again the summer returns (better late than never) and again the little ****ers are crawling about the monitor. I think another two have died inside it and Im not putting up with it this time.

I need some advice on cracking this thing open (if it's safe and what I should look out for), and getting those dead thunderflies out so I can enjoy my £150 investment again!.

If anyone could shed some light on this, I shall be forever in your debt.

Thanks for your replies, I didn't see that forum section sorry!.

I took a look in there though and immediately saw someone with the same problem.

Thing is, though people have given some good ideas as to how to get them out (turning off the monitor and leaving a lamp on nearby) I've got a grand total of 4 dead thunderflies inside!.

They are plainly obscuring my view now, so it's ruins my viewing pleasure.

I've checked the back of the monitor and it strongly reccomends I stay away from it.

Even then it looks and states that it requires a specific tool set to open it up.

Im going to give Acer another call tommorow and try give them a piece of my mind about this shoddy excuse for a product. Im not giving up this time.
