Thunderstorms

Thunder and lightening in Gloucestershire now too.
It's been raining solidly without a break since I woke up at about 6am...

Bertha has now passed here in Southampton. But between 5am and 9am the rain and thunder took epic to another level. It was actually the rain that woke me up and not the thunder to start with. The drainage in the street couldn't cope, and for around an hour a fountain could be seen coming from the manhole covers in the street.

Swindon got quite the pasting, some big hail for this country.

A massive amount of wind and rain just hit my house literally out of nowhere. From dry to rain in seconds (Surrey).

Last night coming home late in the evening saw the flashes of lightning in the distance and and thought, uh-oh I'm heading into that.

It got steadily worse and there was the most almighty downpour the likes of which I don't think I've experience before the hail sounded like it was going to smash the windscreen and the torrents of water flooding down the road was extraordinary. You could kayak down the high street, I kid you not.

Some idiotic driver heads at full speed through a flood and the water is a wave washing right over my car. My car itself was having trouble I was in 2nd gear trying to keep the revs up, engine was flooded and was barely alive. Finally got home and got soaked to the skin running 10 yards from the car to the building, had to change my clothes. :o

This morning its a bright blue sky like nothing had happened. I was worried the car wouldn't start but it did and after only a few coughs and splutters it was ok after that.
