Thyroid Problems

Good luck. The needle used for taking blood samples to try and detect thyriod problems is especially large. And pointy. And the only place they can take blood from is a wang. No other superficial vein or artery will do.

Oops - sorry, no medical advice.

good luck with the test. My sister has an overactive thyroid and has coped fine with it for years.

Anyone had Thyroid problems? Gotta have blood test tomorrow

Yeah my mum has, she got a Tumor (doctor said probably due to southport water) [they cut it out all before i was born] and from then on shes had tablets. As long as you dont have a tumor yourself all you have to do it take some tablets each morning with orange juice, if you have a similar thing.

everyone in my family suffers from thyroid except me, and they have normals lives. Nothing to really worry about tablet here and there depending on if your under active or overactive, i got tested for mine about 4 weeks ago when i was getting excessive sweating from my back and around my neck but a little lotion soon sorted that out and my results came back fine :)

good luck tho.

I know this will probably get closed as it is medical.
However it is nothing to worry about at all.
If you are diagnosed with an underactive Thyroid then you will be on medication for life.
On the plus side you get a medical exemption certificate which means ALL of your medication is free for life - any perscription your doctor gives you for any medication you get it for free.

Anyway, it will take them a while to get your dose correct.
They will start you at a level and sowly increase the dose with repeat blood tests evey 3-4 weeks.
Once they have you on the correct dose you'll drop to 5-6 monthly tests to make sure things haven't changed.

I'm taking a massive 250mg a day at the moment and a chance I'll go up to 300mg (most nurses/doctors I speak to have never heard of a dose so high - love being different).
Good luck and you maybe absolutely fine.
