Going to the Brixton Academy tonight and bought tickets via Ticketmaster. Had a few emails telling me I must have the O2 Academy app to transfer tickets to other members of my party. It’s only me and a friend, previous gigs I’ve been to I’ve just shown both tickets on one phone to get us both in.

But now I’ve had a text saying it’s “one ticket per device” and I must transfer tickets to other members of my party. And obviously the previous email says that must be done via the O2 Academy app.

Anyone had this? I’ve got both tickets in my TM app, and in my Apple Wallet. Surely I don’t need to make my friend register for TM and us both have to download another app to transfer? And surely I don’t need the O2 app since I’ve got tickets displayed in my wallet and TM app?

Oh, I'm off there on Tues, same situation as I have both tickets on my TM account. I should probably check my email to see if I've had the same msg

Seems a bit of a faff to say the least.

E: Heh, yea there's an email with the same instructions, thanks for the heads up!

I caved and installed the O2 Academy app as well. It’s basically a rebranded TM app so completely pointless. Transferred ticket to my mate who fortunately already had an account. Seems to have gone through alright.

But yeah, I respect efforts to combat touts but no need for a venue to be created its own flippin’ ticket app and making you use it.

@Scam how did it go, did it seem you needed to use the O2 app?

Just wondering if the staff on the door actually cared.
I dont think they did actually. There was plenty of people shouting to have your ticket ready as you were herded in.. I was waving my Apple Wallet ticket (no barcode on it) and that was fine and I got waved through at least twice. When it came to scanning though the guy was fine to 'tap' his reader for that ticket (as opposed to scanning a barcode) but his reader froze out on him. So I got the O2 app and tried with a different person who scanned the 'official' barcode from that app.

So I think essentially you'll be fine without the O2 app. It's basically a rebranded TM app anyway. I did transfer my ticket to my friend so couldn't comment whether or not they would get arsy if you had multiple tickets on one device.
