Hi all

Once SKY is fitted next week I want to really try and tidy up my cabling around the TV. I am trying to figure out what I need and what can be done to make it really less obvious.

Sadly it is rented accomodation so I cannot do anything that will damage the walls/skirting etc.

As you can see from the picture the VM Superhub 2 comes in in the right hand corner and has a fair amount of length on the cable which is currently rolled up. I have sources of power on both sides of the tv stand but with the VM connection on the right I want to only use that side. SKY connection (that already exists, it just needs rewiring etc) is on the right but above the cupboard doors so the cables will trail down to the box under the TV at a guess. My PC will be in middle and my PS3 will move to left and SKY box to right so it's kind of uniform.

Trying to think where all the cables are going to be and what I need to hide them all.

One of the biggest annoyances of those open backed cabinets is the total lack of places to put the cables :( From the TV downwards I'd use either cable ties or spiral wrap - this will create a single route for cables. Then you could use a bit of conduit to route the cables across to the right - you don't have to permanently stick it to the skirting, just a bit of blutack or something.

I know, that TV stand isn't amazing but after spending £1200 on the TV I had little budget left for a really nice stand. Maybe one day I will change it but for now it stays.

I just went to IKEA to find one of those cable tidys and couldn't find them anywhere. Every other time I get stuck in that tardis of a hell hole IKEA they are everywhere. Oh well will have to order online.

I've seen these accessories from D-Line which look useful. Thinking about clips to keep the cables from drooping and then the clips etc around the stand.

get a roll of velcro back-to-back and cut little strips as needed. It makes a great reusable cable tie. Needs to be back to back so one side is the fur and the other is the hooks.

Well I finally got SKY installed today so took the opportunity to re-cable everything. Just 1 HDMI cable that is bugging me behind but that's because currently it is too short too loop around so need to get a longer HDMI lead. Everything working as it should and barely any cables seen. Love it now !!
