Anyone got one and can recommend it?

I've seen the Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1650 for under £300 which has two 12VHPWR but it is said to be a tier 2 PSU.

It's to power two 3090 TIs and also I read the 4090 TI might require two of them.

I did a lot of reading about these ATX 3.0 PSUs and it looks like most will be fine for my system due to the 2x transient load capability.

It looks like the noise level at functional load is all that matters for my setup.

Not sure I'd accept having the Thermaltake 1650W at 40dB but if it was only a not unpleasant airflow noise it might not be an issue.

I've seen 475W each in nvidia-smi which is unnecessary for ML so I can limit them to ~300W each and a decent quiet ~1000W ATX 3.0 would be fine.

I agree but this time it's probably warranted.

The short hold-up time could have been an off unit in the review:

The summary is a noisy fan configuration and it lacks OTP but there is much to like about it especially at sub-£300 which is available in a few places.

I think the best way to look at current ATX 3.0 PSUs is that they are a temporary solution until our next CPU/GPU upgrades in 2024/25 and decent 2000W+ ATX 3.0 models will be widely available.

I bought the Be Quiet! Straight Power 12 1200W and I am very happy with it.

It supports max 800W when using both 12VHPWR connectors and since I don't need to max out the 3090TIs, I run them at 350W each.

It wasn't worth the substantial extra cost to go with the more advanced Dark Power 13 1300W (also 12VHPWR limited to 800W when using both connectors) or the extra £100 for the 1500W Straight Power 12 which supports 1000W when using both 12VHPWR connectors.
