Tight vnc alternative for OSX

It seems that their isn't an OSX version of Tight VNC.

Whats the next best alternative that will connecting to my Ubuntu machine as if I was sitting in front of it?

I often use FreeNX, but that's not the same as being sat in front of the machine as it opens a separate desktop session.

vnc is built into os... its called screen sharing.

The easiest way of accessing it is just type vnc://<ip address or machine name> in the address bar of safari.

Doing that I'm told that the computer I'm trying to connect to doesn't support encryption. I want to send data via SSH so it's encrypted.
