Ok not much of a surprise i know but Time crisis has been confirmed for the PS3, no other versions have been mentioned yet though.

Lightgun arcade shooter, Time Crisis 4, is on the way to PS3, confirming earlier rumours stirred up by US retailers.

According to the latest issue of Japanese Famitsu magazine (via NeoGAF), the PS3 version will contain an AC mode that will be a 100 percent perfect port of the arcade game, which we assume means there'll be no changes to the gameplay or graphics.

It will also pack a Mission mode, although no further details on that have been revealed.

Famitsu also reports that a Guncon 3 (the third iteration of the lightgun used in Time Crisis) is in the works for PS3. We'll be interested to see how it resolves the issue of working with LCD televisions, with which traditional lightguns are completely incompatible.

Wonder if they will use a wii type sensor bar for the new gun?

For those that can't wait - I just got hold of the Topgun LCD lightgun which works fab on the PS3. Managed to pick up Time Crisis 2 + 3, Crisis Zone, Ninja Assault, Dino Stalker and Virtua Cop really cheap 2nd hand too.

I'd say you get about 90-95 % the accuracy you get with traditional light guns (the Topgun uses 'Wii-like' sensor bars). Around the middle of the screen you get pin=point accuracy but it tends to drift a bit towards the edges - loss of accuracy can be helped by using the laser pointer on the gun, though thats kinda like cheating.

Been playing the 'Crisis' games loads so far and its been great fun, really getting that arcade feel.

Only negative point is the distance you need to be away from the screen - even on my 26" LCD I need to be about a metre and a half away (or shots dont register).

Is a 100% arcade perfect port still a good thing?

Not sure what the game looks or plays like if its based on the older system 256 PS2 hardware i would hope it would be improved on the PS3. Does a 100% perfect port mean the game plays the same and has the same levels etc as the arcade and no other improvements? I dont know! Theres a bit more info about the PS3 exclusive mission mode

In addition to an arcade mode, the PS3 version will include a new "Full Mission Mode" featuring PS3-exclusive scenarios. This latter mode will feature first person shooting stages which allow for full freedom of movement.

To control the new FPS stages, you'll want to make use of the new GunCon 3 peripheral. Set for release alongside Time Crisis 4, the updated gun peripheral includes two handles and an analogue stick. The analogue stick will be used to navigate the free-roaming stages.

i've always found the time crisis ports to playstation rather boring.. there's only so much stuff you can do with them - the games end very quickly!
