Time for a base upgrade

Hi,

Unfortunately my current PC has been getting progressively slower, occasionally freezing and is just not powerful enough to cope with the latest applications and games I run on it. I mainly use the computer for Photoshop, video editing, encoding and some gaming. As it will be in my bedroom I will require something that runs fairly quietly. My current Corsair PSU sounds like a helicopter taking off. I would also like to include a SSD drive as I have heard applications will run faster.

I've got a budget of £800-£900 and am considering either a pre-built system or constructing my own. I have never built a computer from scratch but have installed components before, so I think that I would be up for the challenge.

I only require the base and already have Windows 7 and dual Dell monitors. If Windows 8 would be a better option please let me know.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick response.

I just wondered if I was to go for a pre-built system, could I get something with a similar performance and price tag? If yes, which one would you recommend?

Finally, would I be able to play the latest games at the highest resolution and quality?

Cheers
