Hi!

I've been watercooling for many years now. My current system has been under water for quite a while and has been hassle free. Until now. My 580gtx GPU freezes during just video playback. Running MSI Kombuster shows it down clocks back and hits high temps (highest since its been under water).

It's been under water without any maintenance since 2012 besides the odd coolant refill so clearly needs a good clean. I'm thinking of getting the Mayhems Blitz pro to take care of that besides the normal regime of filling and draining the loop with deionised water and new paste on the blocks. Does anyone have any further suggestions/advice on cleaning the loop?

P.s. I used to use a Koolance quick disconnect connected to tubing to drain my loop but its wandered off, is there anything new out there to make it easier to drain the loop?
Thanks

Mayhems blitz should do fine for getting the crap out the pipes and rads. Would be worth it when you have the blocks off to strip them and clean them out with a toothbrush and lemon juice to clean all the micro channels and ensure they are clean and still in good condition. Plenty of guides on YouTube. Just don't overtighten the screws.

With draining you can get small valves you can fit to the lowest point in the loop. Using a t fitting etc. That way connect a pipe to the valve open and drain it all in one go. Quick disconnects are still a good easy way though.

Thanks.

Is there a 't' quick disconnect too? Or some nice and quick way to connect the pipe to a t valve? I do like draining different parts of the loop with the QD just to make sure I get every bit of fluid out

If you're already using QDCs the cheapest thing to do will be to buy a new one for your drain tube. By the time you've bought a tap and a T-piece and a connector to attach the tap and a stop in case the tap gets turned accidentally (or doesn't fully stop the flow) you're looking about £23+VAT (last time I worked it out). A single QDC is cheaper.
