Hi all,

So my PC is 5 years old and I am wondering if it is worth giving it a little upgrade. I am a little out of touch with the latest and greatest as I haven't played many games recently.

Please would you guys recommend what you would do to this (or whether I need to start over) to get a decent gaming rig. I don't want a massive £1200 hardcore gaming machine as I'm not a big enough gamer.

Also, could you please recommend me a standard size case? I don't want fancy lights or windows, just something high quality, minimalist, quiet and has good cooling.

I also plan on getting an SSD, probably don't need any more than about 250GB as videos etc will be stored on a standard HDD.

Current specs:

Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) - OC @ 3.4GHz (Would be clocked higher, but case limits air flow)
Lian Li PC-V351B Aluminium Cube Case - Black
Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard
OCZ Obsidian 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 Dual Channel
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w Silent SLI Ready Modular Power Supply
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Don't really have a budget in mind, show me what you got!

Thanks!

An idea to start you off. Great case and a reasonable setup that can be upgraded down the line for better gaming if required. Reuse the 500gb drive for storage and sell/junk the rest :)

If I wanted to run a GTX 1070 and a 6600K and overclock would I need to change my existing PSU? If it works at the moment I don't see the need. Unless I'm missing something?

For example, but replace the 970 with a 1070:
